The Strengthened Bio-Polymer
ADDITIVE BENEFITS
Seta-Vis was originally designed as a bentonite extender for lime base drilling fluids and has been used often as a suspension aid in salt contaminated muds where calcium carbonate needed to be suspended up to 100 ppb.
Seta-Vis has the additional ability of being a filtrate loss reducer, yet it is non damaging to production zones.
Seta-Vis is easier to apply than most water soluble polymers and usually does not require a shearing device to mix in a fluid medium.
It is an excellent polymer for drilling operations where the bottom hole temperature requires a low MBT, the mud weight is high and/or the fluid contains calcium or salt.
Seta-Vis has been used very successfully as a primary viscosity and suspension agent in an inhibitive KCL drilling fluid and is very effective in a coring fluid.
Seta-Vis is also available as a non-toxic liquid: 16 pounds per can, 40% active and LC-50 at one million plus.
OUR COMPETITION
Seta-Vis has near equal performance with a Xanthan gum for low RPM shear strengths and is far less expensive than Xanthan gum.
Seta-Vis has almost the exact viscosity profile of Xanthan gum, but has better fluid loss control capability, a higher thermal stability and less tendency to create gelling in a elevated pH system.
Seta-Vis has been used very effectively as a replacement for HEC because it suspends, acts fast and requires a low use level and is not affected by bacterial degradation as HEC is. While HEC appears to have a higher viscosity at room temperature, at 175É F., where the fluid will be required to perform, the HEC viscosity is actually lower.
Seta-Vis provides much better yield point values than PHPA Polymers.
TESTING RESULTS
Seta-Vis has been used in numerous viscosity, fluid loss value, salt brine, shear history and lime mud tests. We have compiled graphs showing its performance. We invite you to review the results. Call us today to see them for yourself.
